I've learned about a fun activity, especially now that spring is on it's way and we all want to get outside. It's called Letterboxing!

What is Letterboxing you might ask?
It is hiking with a purpose! Its a mini treasure hunt AND its crafty!

go here for details: http://www.letterboxing.org

basically, what you need to get started is a little blank book, your own personal (homemade or unique to you) stamp, an inkpad and a pen!

there are a kajillion little watertight boxes hidden in a kajillion little places, with little notebooks inside. You get your directions/clues from the above website and you set out to find the little boxes. Once you find the little box on that particular adventure, you open it up and put your personal stamp in its notebook.  In each box there will be another stamp that you can stamp into your lil book- you get a little stampy mini record of your adventure!

I haven't tried it yet, but I see that there are a bunch all over MN, we could all have some fun.

Has anyone ever done this? It's kinda like geocaching without all the fancy equipment. I am looking forward to my first Letterboxing adventure when the snow is gone!

I fully intend to letterbox once the ground isn't so mucky! I need to get goin' and find/make a stamp and notebook.
Hey, since we live so close together, maybe we could go together sometime! Or organize a Letterboxing Craftster meetup...hmmmm...

A little bit of everything!

We letterbox!!!    We've been doing it for about a year now.  This is so much fun, and so inexpensive.... I've told everyone I know about it, and a few letterboxing nuts have since been born.  We're in Texas... but it's so cool to see other letterboxing craftsters out there!

Exclamation POINT!
