Or something like that.

I bought this dress a couple of weeks ago and I loved it so much that I decided to make another one!!!! It was suprisingly easy to make, because it didn't need a zipper, just some elastic in the back! Cheesy

Here is the dress I bought:

And here is my version!!! I did everything basically the same as the bought one, except the pockets. I plan on making them soon.

I need some opinions, with or without the belt???

It got kinda complicated in the bust area, because it bunched up in all the wrong places, so I ended up just putting darts. Apart from that, I'm pretty pleased with it, and the fabric only cost me $3 (Australian)!!! Grin

Please tell me what you think!!!

P.S I'm 13 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That looks great! I love the fabric of the one you made. I vote without the belt though because there is already alot of bows going on with the straps. But either way is still wonderful!

I don't think you need the belt. This dress is very pretty as it is. I really like the bottom hem!

Elastic: There are two strips of elastic in the back. One of them is inside the top hem and the other one is sewn onto the fabric about 2 inches down (I think it's called ruching???).

Dishwasher182: Hahahaha!!! It's basically the middle of summer where I am (Australia), but it's actually not that warm, just very sunny!!!

And thanks guys!!!

How adorable! I love them both. The blue one is best without the belt I think mainly because it's already somewhat of a busy dress with the polka dots and the tie straps, and anything else would send it over the top. But as it is it's perfect!

Nice work! I like it with the belt, personally, I think it makes it look like a nod to the classic style of the 60s. Although, I agree with blackheathen that white would be super cool.

I'll have to get a white belt then!!!!! Lol. I think that with the belt it's a little more dressed up than without it, so it's good for different occasions!!!! Cheesy

OMG, thank you soooooo much MonkeyThumb, that's some really good advice, I'll definitely take it on board!!!! Thanks. Cheesy

JBoo: No, it has no zipper. The way I did the back was by sewing two strips of elastic onto the back of the dress and when I was sewing I stretched the elastic so when I let go it kinda 'bunched up'. If that makes any sense at all?!? (I think it's called ruching?? Or something like that!)

Thanks everyone!!! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I'm going to buck the trend and say that I prefer it with the belt. And I'm in awe of your drafting skills! My one attempt at copying an existing garment resulted in a rather peculiar-looking sack.

This is great. It looks fantastic and reminds me of Betty Boop. It doesn't need the pockets, though they would be handy.

This si definately at least 30 times better than the seming I was doing at 13, nice job Wink

Roll Eyes so cool. i wish i could do this. and your only 13... i can only imagine how completely awesome you are going to become! i thought that was impossible. lol.

anyways. i like the belt. but i agree with the whole "maybe a white one"... or you could do red, since that would lend it a very nautical kind of feel (red white and blue seem to be those colors.) and nautical is in... i think. i can't keep track.

That is really cute! It looks exactly the same as the other dress. I think it would be cute with any color belt honestly... well, not any color, but you know. I don't think you should have a bow on the belt though with so much bowage already on the dress. Awesome!

very cute. it's nice either way but the belt kicks it up a notch, especially for those times you wanna be sexy. add like a cute clutch and some hot shoes and some jewels and it would be the perfect gurl's nite-out-fit

I think you should make an identical belt, but one that's white.  White would go much better with the polka dots

The dress is really cute.

It kinda bothers me how you write "PS. I'm 13" in every single post. And honestly, you look much older than 13. Even if you are 13, do you really need to mention it every time? Maybe it's so people are nicer to you, but honestly, your stuff is really good!

Ok. That is all.
