With craftster down yesterday, I got busy.

my fav, so many pics:

action shot:

This material has been in my stash forever - I've been waiting for something special to make.  I think I need to make a pair of over-undies to match

and,

and this one just screamed 'cuffs! cuffs!' at me:

I'm trying to show that it has a neck strap, not shoulder straps, but the monkey was getting tired of posing for me by this time.  Fruit leather has a finite amount of appeal as a bribe.

Questions about the tops very welcome.  Also, please, opinions on how to make cutie smock tops for me and my giant nursing boobs without looking like a water buffalo.  (help me!)

You have a beautiful monkey.  She seriously should be a model.

I love the tops, they are all adorable.  I bought some elastic thread the other day to try, but I have yet to.  Is that how you did the first two?

The polka-dots ROCK, as does your daughter with those cuffs!

first, that is an absolutely beautiful child. Smiley she has a great smile. Smiley

I love the tops. they're adorable and a perfect use of the fabric. I particularly like the first and third. Smiley great designs.  It looks like you used contrasting red thread on the shirring for the first one? I love the details you chose.

and I love the bitty baby cuffs. how cute. Smiley  I'm working on a custom order for some child's wrist warmers and I can't get over how *tiny* and cute they seem after working on adult sizes for so long. squeeee.

oh, did you see this post from moongirl? https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=154536.0
it's a nice simple jumper style dress and the tie makes it versatile. You could slim out the bottom portion a bit if needed. That seems like it could be helpful because it doesn't create extra poof and you could tie in the front or back to either accentuate the extra boobage or minimize it.

In general it seems the key to keeping smock tops from adding 20lbs to a person's figure is the placement of the bust/waist line and the length of the shirt.

I did use elastic thread but I really didn't know how to use it properly so I just zigzag'd it into place, which turned out nicely with the contract thread.

My mother still complains about the day I developed an opinion about how I'm dressed.  She's hated everything I've worn since.  Tongue
