Hello all- I'm new to knitting and have only completed bibs, washcloths, scarves and hats. I've just started on my first sweater and I picked the Best Friend Cardigan but I'm having a hard time w/ how vague the instructions are. I just finished row six and I'm afraid to knit further because I can't understand the directions for the increases to shape the body. Are you supposed to start counting the even six rows after you finish the ribbing on row 4? I'd appreciate any help anyone has. Thanks in advance.

hi everyone,

i'm about to start my first twinkle sweater and i'm so excited to get going!  i'm a little unsure what size to make.  i have a 36" bust size and in the book, it says that would be a "large".  in the errata for the book, however, it says a 36" bust would be a medium.  what experiences have people had with the sizing?

also, the amounts of yarn when you use twinkle's yarn are completely different than what's listed if you are using a different super bulky weight yarn.  is the yardage of her yarn correct or the other amount correct?

thanks for the help!

So Weekend Knits was at Chapters today.  I bought it.

I kinda wish I hadn't payed $30 dollars for it.

I like some of the patterns, but a lot of them (Borealis Sweater, Riverbed Shawl) remind me a lot of the first book.  Nothing really sings to me this time.

Anyone else picked it up yet?

here's my aspen hat that was a PAIN in the ass to make since i can't find US 19 dpns anywhere!!! i ended up using a combo of one US 19 circular and two sets of US 19 straights, which meant that i had to keep taking stitches off the needles and putting them back on the needles the other way....ugh, what a friggin nightmare. in hindsight i really should have just gone out and got another circular set....but alas, lesson learned too late, lol. i used the Lupo yarn by Lang, which was a perfect substitute for this project.

Yeah, I ordered Weekend Knits over amazon.  Not too excited.  I'll probably end up knitting the cloudburst cardigan . . .

Ok...so I've barely started the Rockefeller Sweater.
all I've done so far is the ribbing, but as soon as I hit row 5 everything gets messed up.
i have started over so many times--i can't even count.
I figured i could figure it out myself but it doesnt seem to be working.
here's what it says for my size:

Row 5 (RS): P1, work right front cable pattern over next 10 stitches, p1, pm, p10, p2tog, p14, pm, p1, work left front cable pattern over next 10 stitches, p1--49sts.

i guess my real question is why is there a p2tog in the middle there?
is it really supposed to decrease every row?

and also, for row 6 (WS) it doesnt specify if i should knit the purls..or purl the purls..
i'm guessing ill knit them and do reverse stockinette stitch.

i hope that made sense!
thank youu

Gosh, I can't help you on the Rockefellar.

I've had this book forever.  I haven't looked at it for about a year.  So, I bought some bulky yarn and decided it would make a nice Twinkle hoodie.

Here is my progress so far.
