One of my favorite things in the world to do, besides making my crafts for family and friends, is finding new sources of supplies... as such I was VERY excited to see this list here.. being new to the site, I have been on a reading binge for hours and hours and hours... getting more excited to see so many wonderful items and getting inspired. I saw this links and said, wow that looks awesome, then went to each site for a "quick" look see... I was happy, very happy for the most part.. then saddened beyond words.... Let me explain...

The site "Silver Crow Creations" offers Native American "inspired" supplies... I always get real excited when I see another source for Native supplies, as I am an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River SIOUX Tribe of South Dakota... I do a lot of beading and make regalia for my daughter.. among many other art projects... well I looked around and got saddened because not one item there supposedly "inspired by Natives" is made or supplied by a Native American company! Come on peoples! This is the 21st century and I am sorry but me and many, many other Native crafters, artisans are tired of being ripped off, and having our over 500+ cultures raped and sold.... ok.. so enuf of the rant...  Angry  Mom always said that you can bring something like this to light but you better have a solution! Wink  So here are some places YOU can get supplies, some awesome supplies, from either enrolled tribal members, or from tribes that have not been been around for time immemorial but have not been accepted by the Federal Government (yes yes there are state recognized tribes but not federally recognized tribes, and even some tribes where state recognition has been deemed too much) also some Native owned companies....

Crazy Crow Trading Post   http://www.crazycrow.com/
NocBay Trading Company   http://www.nocbay.com/
The Wandering Bull Online Store (one of the first Native owned companies that made it on the web) http://store.wanderingbull.com/
The Zuni Connection   http://www.thezuniconnection.com/index.html Now I placed this one here because there are some awesome artists, all enrolled members of their tribes... also when you look through the website it gives links to many other Native owned businesses...including the Woodenknife which sells frybread mix ...lol...

One last thing... there is a law, a FEDERAL LAW, that nothing can be sold as authentic Native American Indian Made unless it is made and signed by a enrolled tribal member of a federally recognized tribe.. so when you see something that says, Native inspired, it is not authentic..BUT lets say you get inspired by a piece of art and you are not an enrolled member of a tribe (there are a lot of people who are not enrolled for many many reasons, but doesn't make that person no less Native).. and incorporate it into your art.. you can say it's Native inspired just not authentic Native American.... ok does that make sense?

Ok so I am done with my speil..and I hope you look at the sites I gave..you can find, fur, beads, tin cones, material, leather, buckskin, horns, kits to make things like dance fans, breastplate... you can find bone tubes, all kinds of feathers,  real wanpum, patterns for dresses including the Cherokee Tear Dress... lots and lots of things that can be used in so many ways... This place has some great artist stamps, thus why it's called Stampa Fe Art Stamps (it's in Santa Fe, NM)!

Thanks, I added it to the list. I also checked all the links and removed any shops that have since closed, so currently everything is working. If anyone else has any suggestions of great places to get online supplies, feel free to mention them here and I'll add them. Smiley

I thought maybe I had misspelled it, but the link works fine for me.  Do you have a feature on your browser that block non-secure sites?
