Hi. I have a suggestion for an addition to the basic questions on the swap questionaire:

1. Do you have any allergies (pets/smoke/etc)? And do you live in a house with cats/smoke/etc?

And yes, I know that I can simply type this change in myself, but I just wanted to suggest that it gets implemented permanently. I know I forgot to add it with my current swap and later felt really guilty that someone's going to get there package and break into hives.

And feel free to "talk amongst yourselves." Maybe there are more suggestions out there...

I thought it was.  At least it's been asked in the swaps I've participated in...

I think that is a really good idea.  I didn't even think about that, but I do have a cat.   Huh

I don't think its on the current form, but I definalty think it is a good idea.  Some people are super super allergic to things, and if your package shows up and even has like one cat hair on it or something, it may cause them to have some sort of allergic reaction.  Eep!  The smoking thing is also a big thing for a lot of people....they either are super allergic to it or just don't want their stuff to come smelling like smoke.

I always add that question to my swaps, and even to my pms to the coordinator even if they dont ask. I am allergic to a million things! the only (go figure) common thing im not allergic to is a cat. Buy I do have one and i know from personal experience that sometimes even the smallest amount of something you're allergic too can really screw with you.

Excellent suggestion  Wink

Some people are really allergic to certain fibers like wool, whenever I swap with someone I always make sure to PM them and ask!  I'd hate to send something they couldn't use, so I think adding the allergies question to the post starter would be a great idea!

If this isn't part of the basic list of swap questions, I'd like to see it added.

My husband used to be highly allergic to cats and dogs.  Before he started going for allergy shots, within 5 minutes of entering a house where cats lived, he'd be bright red and unable to breathe - even if the cats had been banished from the room and the room had been cleaned thoroughly.  Now, he can be around cats for an evening without reacting, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
