I would like to learn how to crochet.  I want to do this because I find Amigurumi to be so cute.  I'd like to eventually make some amigurimi items.

Anyway, if anyone has time to kind of teach me, I am willing to pay for lessons.  I live in DC, would need to be on the weekend  and near metro (no car).

Ooh, ooh, I'd be up for group classes if you've any interest in sharing!  (I'm also in DC, and do have a car, so I can go anywhere.)

I've tried to learn a couple of times, and I can handle the "make a chain" step, but after that -- no matter how many books I use -- it all falls apart....

So I finally started a blog....

I saw that they have classes at Stitch DC which has stores in Georgetown, Capitol HIll and Chevy Chase.  I am closest to the Georgetown one.  Looks like their classes are more knitting though, but I really want to learn crochet so I can do amigurumi.  Looks like they also have private classes.  Maybe we could learn it thru them that way if there are no other ideas?

Hiya!  I'm a Charlottesville, VA amigurumi maker, but I travel up to the DC area reasonably often.  I'd be happy to share what I know if there's interest in an amigurumi/crochet meetup.  (I'll go ahead and tentatively suggest the weekend of May 5th, since I'm planning to be in the area)

I have not done it in a while, and mostly taught myself so i may not be the best teacher, but i would be more than willing to meet sometime to try and go over it with anyone. (Especially if two wishes brought her puppy along Tongue) Mostly i am volunteering because i am dying to do something creative and have no inspiration at the moment. Crocheting seems to me slightly easier to pick up and definitely faster than knitting. I have not done amigurumi but it looks like great fun. Another option is if the Knit Out and Crochet actually comes back this year (http://www.knit-out.org/) then theres is learn to crochet tent there. Good Luck either way!
