Details of swap:Fill a teeny-tiny matchbox with teeny-tiny supplies! Find a matchbox that holds between 30-40 wooden matches and fill it as full as you possibly can with tiny supplies. You'll be amazed by how much you can fit in it! You can put anything you want in it, as long as it is a supply for some sort of crafty activity -- beads, paper, ephemera, charms, postage stamps, brads, buttons, fibers, embellishments, stamped images, stamps, ribbons, stickers, foam shapes, fake flowers, bits, doo-dads, gizmos, whatnots, and whatever else you can think of! If it fits and can be used in a craft, it's fair game. You can have 1, 2 or 3 partners -- you will make a matchbox for each partner, and you will receive a matchbox from each partner. You can decorate the matchbox if you'd like, but decoration is entirely optional.
I will be splitting the swap into two groups: Apples and Oranges. I will be the organizer for the Apple group, and KCGal will be the organizer for the Orange group. Communication is important -- don't worry about bugging us! We love our swappers and want to keep up! If you have any questions or problems, post on the thread or let your organizer know.
Mail Issues:Make sure to PM your organizer (either KCGal or Katxena) and your partner when you send and when you receive!
For swappers mailing from a point in the US to the US: Since these packages are so small, DCNs are not required, but they are encouraged. If you want to get a DCN, mail in a 9x12 envelope and insert a rigid piece of cardboard (this will meet postal requirements for a DCN). Keep your mail receipt. If you don't get a DCN and your partner does not receive within two weeks of the date it was sent, you will have to send another package.
For swappers mailing from countries outside the US, or to countries outside the US: Keep your mail receipt. If your partner does not receive within two weeks of the date it was sent, you will have to send another package.
If you are going to be late, let your organizer know. "Mailed late with communication" is more likely to get positive feedback than "Mailed late."
More information about DCNs, found by amaryllisroze:
a. The surface area of the address side of the parcel must be large enough to contain completely and legibly the delivery address, return address, postage, and any applicable markings, endorsements, and extra service labels.
b. Except as provided in 9.2.2c for machinable parcels, the parcel must be greater than 3/4 inch thick at its thickest point.
c. If the mailpiece is a machinable parcel under 401.1.0 and no greater than 3/4 inch thick, the contents must be prepared in a strong and rigid fiberboard or similar container or in a container that becomes rigid after the contents are enclosed and the container is secured. The parcel must be able to maintain its shape, integrity, and rigidity throughout processing and handling without collapsing into a letter-size or flat-size piece.
