How do you like the patons classic merino wool?  I have some, and I feel like it's too itchy to make a hat out of.  Does it get softer with blocking?

I'm glad you like the hats!  I love these two patterns because they aren't difficult and the results are stunning enough to stop any non-knitter in her tracks!  Wink

How do you like the patons classic merino wool?  I have some, and I feel like it's too itchy to make a hat out of.  Does it get softer with blocking?

The Classic Merino softens up quite a bit after blocking.  I use a spoonful of Euculan and it makes a huge difference in the way the yarn feels.  I have really short hair so hats always rub against the back of my neck and I don't find it itchy at all after it's been washed.

Yes, Paton's Classic Merino is a worsted weight yarn.
