My boyfriend loves Pikachu, you know the character from pokemon, and I would love to crochet one for him. I was thinking of making it up as a go but I actually found a pattern online. The only problem is there's no picture. So my question is, does anyone want to crochet it up and post a pic here to see if it's a good pattern or not? I don't have time to do it only to find out that it doesn't look like pikachu at all. Now to find the right yellow.. Thanks! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, his birthday is the second week of feb.

The pattern's by Joilyn Carll:

I would love something like this, only as a doll, not a backpack.

I made a pikachu afghan in Tunisian crochet 6 years ago. Just got a magazine pic and put it on a graph and winged it.I did it in knit stitch and when my son took it to school the teacher wouldn't accept it was crocheted. It was my first afghan in tunisian as it happens.

Is it a stuffed toy? My son and his friend love pokemon, and the friend's birthday party is also in mid-february. I'll give it a try, and see if I can do it in time.

I've finished the head and started the body. I can't tell how it will look yet.  It's a big head, about 5 inches or so across.  Hope I have enough yarn....!

I'm curious about this as well.  I might go pick up some yellow yarn tomorrow and give it a try.

It uses more than a skein, at least for me. I had to find another yellow for the ears and tail Tongue
Not sure if I like the head/body shape, it looks like a gourd. Possibly stuff it less to get the cheeks more "hamster looking". The pattern was ok to follow, but I'm a little confused on the tail part. If anyone else does this pattern I'd like to know if they found it difficult too. I'm not the most experienced crocheter yet, and shaped things are very new to me.
I still need to finish and attach the tail and make the red cheeks. I copied the face from one of my son's books, it's mostly just surface embroidery.  I'm redoing the eyes with buttons instead because they came out very thick and buggy from all that yarn, and maybe the mouth as well because it looks too mad.
I do like the ears and the way the feet sit, I just wish I had enough of the same color for the whole thing.
