My friend's son is turning 3 and I made him this activity book, but now I am unsure if this is just not good enough... what do you think? Particurarly how the glue bulked out some of the [paper] pages... ugh. I honestly need an opinion if I need to toss it? I must add this is a very good friend so even if this is crappy, she will still say she loved it!

All of the buttons, snaps, zippers etc. open and close and are glued and stitched to cardboard.

cover:

page with zipper [hidden under the buttons]

page with snaps

page with colors/shapes

page with buttons

page with backpack snap

last page

Thanks for looking, if anyone knows how to fix the glue thing or has any honest, semi-nice feedback I would appreciate it... Huh

like the button one and the back pack one!!!

It is absolutely totally cool - when she tells you she loves it she will not be lying!!!!!

Thanks, you guys are so nice!!!

I used ModPodge and then sewed most of the pieces together. Just so the boy doesn't rip it apart.

for the paper pages maybe you can use double face tape?
the scotch brand is pretty tough and you don't have to wait for it to dry or anything Wink
If you wanted REALLY tough - there is doubled sided duct tape now - that would prolly be touch enough to glue the fabric on too!

But I wouldn't change a thing on that one - they will love it!

That book is a really great idea.  I know my son would love it.

I would worry less about whether it's pretty than whether it's sturdy.  You're giving it to a 3 year old boy.  If the zipper zips, the snaps snap, and it can survive being thrown against the wall a few times, then it's perfect.

Thanks, my kids are 2 and 4 so I had to make it extra sturdy. It is glued and sewn over and sewn the pages together 3 times - 2 by machine and 1 by hand.

Your book looks great! I think her son will love it. She's lucky to have such an awesome friend make a nice gift her son.
