Also, you can go to the Dover Publications website and sign up for free samples to be sent to your email.

http://store.doverpublications.com/

Sometimes it takes a bit of sifting through the samples they send each week, but it's usually worth it.
wow, that was a great tip!   Thanks for sharing

Besides all the ways that everyone has already listed, I also try to hit the library sales.  They usually happen once a year to get rid of decrepit/unwanted books and benefit the library system.  This year I think I got a box of books for about 6 dollars.  I got, among others, an old, pictoral, Betty Crocker cookbook, an old Gray's Anatomy, a very thick Japanese magazine, an old medical encyclopedia, and of course books for me to read, and books for my daughter.  Not bad!  Cheesy  Since I only make things for myself or as gifts, I don't worry about copyright issues.

I don't worry about copyright too much with my ATCs either since I don't plan on selling them. For instance, I'm working on a Film Noir alphabet series and I'm pretty sure it's not entirely legal for me to use the movie poster images I've downloaded. But it's just for me so I hope I won't get arrested.  Tongue

It has excellent images, but is just a nightmare to navigate.

I agree -- it's a total nightmare.  I can't imagine why anyone thought all those busy backgrounds and burried bunny-trail links were a good idea!

Exactly! My husband is a web designer, saw the site over my shoulder one day and was just appalled.

I just created a separate bookmark/favorites folder for it and saved each individual page that I liked so I can find my way back.

Don't forget the gigantasaurus site of black and white clipart! I don't see how you could forget, with all those freaky images! Grin
