I've been wanting a shirt dress for so very long...so finally, I just decided to jump on that ball. One of my bf's favourite shirts got a tear in the arm that just couldn't be repaired, so I scooped it up!

The shirt is originally a men's medium, which even at 4'11" wasn't quite as long as I would have liked it to be...so I had to improvise.

First I removed the sleeves from the shirt. Then I cut the shirt in half just under my bustline. I took in the top half to fit. The bottom half of the shirt I took in to fit at my waist, like a skirt. Then I opened up the original sleeves of the shirt and created a middle panel for my dress. On the front waist panel I added some rouching.
With the left over material I added some cap sleeves. And voila...my kickin shirt dress.

I may add a zipper, as it's a bit of a wiggle to get on...but otherwise, it fits like a glove.

(please ignore my somewhat drunken appearance...I wasn't drunk...really)

Side...ish

Detail of rouching.

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

Stinkin cute! nice job!!! I would need a zipper to get my big butt into something that fitted, but if you can get into it, why bother with the zipper!  Tongue

Yowza!  Turned out great!  I like the middle panels, not only because they make the dress long enough to actually wear, but they make the dress look less like a huge shirt (you know?)  Anyway, very nice job.

This is fantastic. I think my boyfriend might return home to a few less shirts in his wardrobe ^_^
