Is this a recon?

I saw an ad for fancy rubber gloves. It's in one photo here, but hard to see. It touted these gloves as the ones you'd buy if you're the kind of person who pays $200 for jeans.

Friends of mine are getting married so I decided to make them a pair. I haven't made the white ones for her yet, but here are the ones for him. He's a Brit so I found a flannel plaid remnant, some red velvet ribbon and 2 buttons on an old vintage button card I had.

I'm loving those gloves!  I was always jealous of the How Clean Is Your House ladies with their fancy gloves, I need some to go with my housework tiara.  Great recon/embellishment!

I'm a new mom to my beautiful baby girl Rhaevyn, born June 12th, she keeps me super busy.

This reminds me of Twiggy for some reason... hmm... Anyway, I think it's adorable

Just a question, does the waterproof region end at the ribbon or does it continue under the plaid? It just seems to me it wouldn't be very practical if it just ended at the ribbon, then you wouldn't be able to submerge your hands in water.

Maybe it would be even cuter (but not as functional XP) if you stuck a giant black flower or bow on the ribbon.

Judging by the photo I was copying from, it looks like the fabric begins towrds the last inch or two of rubber. But my cuffs were a bit narrow so I had to move them up a bit more and there's about 3" under the fabric.

I'm not sure they're terribly functional. They were meant as more of a gag gift than a real useful item because I'm not sure the ribbon won't bleed. But I think the ones in the ad were meant to be used and the fabric looked more like a canvas-y broadcloth than a flannel or the pink chenille I'm going to pair with the white gloves.

I'm also making the bride a half apron from a 40's printed tablecloth of big roses which will be usable.
