A meeting of the Prince George Craft Collective (dedicated to bringing the punk, spunk, and all around northern-inspired fun back into crafting in the North!) will be meeting on Sunday, January 28th from 2:00pm-3:00pm in Cafe Voltaire (Books 'n Company).

**What is the PGCC**

The structure of the PGCC will be completed and announced at the first meeting on the 28th (will be handed out in pamplet format!).  The two main purposes of the PGCC are to 1. create an environment and community with which to embrace counter-culture crafts and crafters; and 2. to create an entrepenuerial market for crafters of counter-culture inspired crafts (anything really, but a lot in the vein of this very here craftster).  There *will* be a small yearly membership fee to cover table costs at the farmer's market and the PG Folk Fest for the entire collective (shared table--let's battle those grannies and their barbie-toilet-roll-covers!).  Collective membership will cap at 30-40 members (depending on fees for farmers market/folk fest); any additional members will be juried by a small consensus body of the PGCC.  Through the sale of PGCC items at the farmer's market, folk fest, and online store (http://pgcraft.etsy.com) a small fee will be collected (no more than 25%, and probably less) to pay for the wages of the PGCC director (me: this includes email checking, website building, community capacity building, liasing with local stores for your goods, and dedicating my saturdays to the farmer's market, just to name a few!), etsy store fees, and honorariums for workshop leaders as well as workshop supplies.  It is intended that on January 28th the PGCC will be adopted as a program of a local non-profit society (to be named after incorporated) which will ensure accountability for collected funds and a society/program based structure with which to carry the legacy of the PGCC beyond my time residing in the VLA.  For the first year membership to the PGCC will be those who can identify a Prince George, B.C. mailing address (for drop off and pick up of items ease; in year 2, when there is more structure and it looks like the PGCC *will* work, we hope to incorporate those living in communities north of 100 mile and west to the ocean and north to the freezing land of the Yukon.  IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF PG BUT WANT TO PARTICIPATE I ENCOURAGE YOU TO LINK UP WITH ANOTHER CRAFTER TO BE YOUR LIASON; for us, remaining PG oriented for the first year enables us to keep costs lower...but we'll expand, especially if there is interest from along the other northern cooridors).  Okay, I'm rambling now. If you want more information, the PGCraft Collective email is pgcraft@gmail.com

All my love and I'll see you on the 28th at Cafe Voltaire with bells on!
