I made this set for my mother's birthday (Jan. 13th).  She had been wanting a hat and mitt set, and I couldn't think of a stitch pattern I liked until I saw the challenge.  Smiley  Whipped the whole set up in 2 days, when the snow trapped us inside.  The hat is my own pattern, my very first one in fact.  The mitts I adapted from http://ohmystars.net/craft/knitting/pgloves.html

Mom modeling... colors are more true to life in this photo:

And a shot of the set:

The hat took one skein of Noro Silk Garden, plus maybe 5 yards (would have been one skein even if I hadn't left such a long cast on tail).  The mitts took most of one skein.  If you'd like to see a close up of the garter lace, I can take another shot of it.  Thanks for looking!  Smiley
