Ooh! Lace! I just realized that I have the exact yarn called for (this NEVER happens) for a sock pattern I've been eyeing lately. This would be a great excuse to cast them on and get going!

No lace, cables!! lace socks ae pointless - why wear socks? (I am planning on joining this KAL eventually!)

I've knit a ton of socks with lace in them, and I was always aware I was wearing socks.  Lace doesn't make the wool aspect of them disappear.  Grin

So... is it decided? Are we doing lace (guessing from the votes I see on this thread)?

I'm hoping so, because I'm knitting a gauge swatch for Knitty's Hedera.

A little over a year ago I started making IK's Juliet Pullover out of some lovely green Rowan 4-ply soft. I had about one sleeve left to go, and ran out of yarn. And could not for the life of me find more in that color (let alone a compatible dye lot). And so it has sat, taunting me, unfinished, in my yarn trunk.

And then I noticed that these socks (which I had been thinking about making anyway) called for Rowan 4-ply soft... So last night I frogged the front of the sweater, soaked the yarn (to get out the kinks), and when it's finished drying I'm going to wind it and turn it into some great socks. Yay! I love stories with happy endings Smiley

Will Knitty's Beaudelaire count as lace? There are definitely yarn overs, but when I look at them, I don't necessarily think "lace socks". Maybe I've just answered my own question.

Sorry I haven't been participating so far - it's been a slow winter for knitting! I'm definitely going to try for April.

OK, so lace it is.  And, in honour of spring and the jolly day we spent down by the Thames yesterday, I am going to knit...

Kew from Knitty: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTkew.html

This pattern reminds me so much of the first four lines of the Canterbury Tales* and makes me glad of the rain, for bringing glorious green leaves and flowers.

*Very appropriate for the month:

'Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote
The droghte of Marche hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour,
Of which vertu engendred is the flour'

Geoffrey Chaucer (for those that have not heard of the Canterbury Tales)

Now, I have to go sit in a three hour meeting when I should be out enjoying the sunshine.  Remember to post pics of March socks here (mine are done and pics coming, honest Wink) and have a lovely sunny day!

I like how we are almost all picking Lace socks from issues of Knitty. Oh Knitty how I love thee, let me count the ways.

As soon as I finish my second March sock (almost done!), and I am going to get some sock yarn and make the Queen of Cups socks from the new issue of knitty.

SWEET!! I think I'm going to make a pair of Pomatomuses (Pomatomi?) from Knitty. I'm so excited for spring/summer! Smiley

I started a pair of lacey socks a few days ago (yes, in march, I know) but I haven't been working on them much. I'll KAL with you guys and hopefully I can finish them in a timely fashion! I'm knitting Unst socks from Knitting on The Road, but making them knee-highs. Someone on here did this not too long ago and they looked freaking adorable. I'm breaking the Knitty trend! Although, I have a UFO of Monkey socks from knitty that I had to steal the needles from to do Unst socks, so I do share the knitty love!

My alarm clock still holds a grudge from the time I threw it at the wall
