Does anyone know how to sew a European hem?  Meaning shorten a pair of pants but keep the original hem somehow?

Can anyone teach me?

Cut off them hem a little above the thread, for a seam allowance. Trim off how much you want to shorten, plus a seam allowance, minus the depth of the hem you are saving. Sew the hem on again, right next to the original hem stitching, and PRESS WELL. Should end up pretty hard to see where you cut and pasted.

Of course, this only works with straight legs, that are even, rather than flared or tapered.
