OK, this is my first attempt at embroidery besides practice stuff.  I saw the idea on Uncommon Threads on the DIY network & thought it would make a neat gift for my mom to put photos of our trips to New Mexico in.  I drew out on paper some stuff to look like a map... roads, a river & even a hiking trail and added in some mountains & a cactus & finished it off with the Zia sun symbol that's on the New Mexico state flag.  I made sure it would fit into the window of the album I bought and bordered it.  I outlined everything with a black sharpie & taped it to my lightbox (a very useful thing).  I then placed a piece of unbleached muslin on top, turned on ye olde lightbox & traced my image lightly in pencil on my muslin.   I used a bunch of different stitches and combined thread colors.  Overall, I am pleased with how it came out since it was my first time.  Next time I would use a thicker fabric and work on getting my stitches more even.  I will also practice on getting my lines straighter.

I haven't put it in the photo album yet, will post a pic when I do.
