So in Austria (where my mum is from), they celebrate St. Nikolaus Day on Dec 6th. St Nick is basically a trimmer, fitter version of Santa who wanders the snowy Alps (no sleigh, the man WALKS) bringing little treats to kids (Baby Jesus brings the kids presents on Christmas Eve, I personally think St. Nick takes a long holiday over Christmas in a tropical clime to recoup from his long trek).

ANYWAYS...

Traditionally, the goodies include oranges, nuts, and sometimes chocolates or little toys. So for my sister, I decided to knit her a little drawstring bag out of some of my handspun and fill it with stuff! (And she LOVED it!)

Here is the bag all by its lonesome:

And with its contents...

Aaawwwww. What a cute bag full of goodies. I just watched a documentary about the original St Nikolaus tonight. I love hearing about variations in christmas traditions from around the world.  Kiss
