Do you know why?

Becuase it's a leech.

I made it for my mommy for Chanukkah.  This is my first post, by the way, but I've been on here for a while.  Look, Mother loves her leech!!

I was going to make all 34 segments (or is it 32?) but I only had enough felt for 24.  I made it last evening, in a fit of insomnia and being stuck inside due to a blizzard all day.

The look on her face is priceless.

Your mom is awesome! I think mine would run away screaming if I made her a leech. Yeah, I'm also curious as to why you picked a leech.

That entertained me in the boring dwindling hour and a half before work ends thats for sure! Tooo funny. Quite the interesting life form to pay homage to in felt form, I'd love to know why hehe. And you totally have the same hamster cage that I do sitting in the background in the piccie. I'm far too observant sometimes  Roll Eyes

OMG TOOO AWESOME!! I wish my mom would be cool enough to recieve a leech, well IDK a leech is a little weird for my taste..but it is soooo wicked cool all at the same time! I think you did an awesome job, I have no clue how many segments you skipped but it still looks awesome!

In regards to why I chose a Leech:  I'm really not sure.  I was Wikipedia-ing bloodletting (don't even ask) and I decided that Leeches are underappreciated.  They need to be cuddly.  I mean, I would love to cuddle with a big ol' leech, so I guess I just kinda made it.  Besides, I've never seen a leech plushie before.

And in regards to the hamster cage:  It's actually not a hamster in there, one holds Spartacus (my turtle) and the other holds Laurel and Hardy (my toads).  But we can still be hamster/amphibian container twins!

And FINALLY in regards to my mother: She's gotten used to it over the years... Wink

What a fun idea! I know there's someone making tons of stuffies and things based on microscopic pictures of bacteria and visuses. After seeing them, somehow a leech is much more cuddly.

Completely awesome! I have been fascinated by leeches since a very young age.  Did you know that they use them in modern medicine as well? Maggots have also proved beneficial... they eat dead skin and are antibacterial. Doctors often use them in reattaching limbs. (Maybe that was a little too much information.) Anyway, I love your leech, and am hitting the "this rocks" button. Keep up the great work!
