Thanks to SolaceInSleep and his super cool room post, I have my own fabulous shelf unit!

(Ok, I guess I better also thank my dad who whipped this up while I was home over Thanksgiving!)

I'm not too excited about some of the items but I needed to put something in it for the time being.  I really like the old cameras, vases, and black and white photos though...

Any ideas for other interesting/unique objects that might fit a photography theme???

That looks awesome. I'd really like one for my room. I love the way it looks.

Cool shelf - I love the idea of collecting more antique cameras and placing them in there, or other old photography equipment.  Flea market ahoy!  Anywho - I love the shelf, it's awesome.

I definitly agree with collecting vintage equipment and displaying it.  My dad, a photographer, has a crazy collection that he wants to do something similar with.  Telescoping lenses would look nice where the vases are.  Are you a photographer? You could collect other equipment like developing reels (the crazy silver metal ones that I hate to use). Or collect a lot of one thing, maybe the casing for a roll of film, or the black washer-like rings on either end of the casing, and fill up a square completely with them, using plexi-glass to hold them in.
Those are some extreme photo-themed ideas, if that's what your going for.

I love photography and I have taken a couple classes so I am all too familiar with the silver developing reels. (which, by the way, drive me insane too!) Those are great ideas! Now I just need to find a good source for cheap equipment.  The bottom left and top right cameras were purchased at a pharmacy in a small town in Nebraska. Should have bought more... Smiley

If you wanted to bring in a little color, you could look for exposure filters.  The kind that go in the enlarger have square edges, usually, so they wouldn't try to roll off the shelves all the time.
