Here's one of my favorite shirts that I've stenciled.  I got the picture from clipart.com, so it's copyright and royalty free.  Sorry about the odd picture, my husband took it and wouldn't get up from playing Fable (X-box video game).

What kind of paint did you use. I use fabric paint and mine get thick and raised and I just don't like that.

It's a fabric marker my mother-in-law gave me.  She got it from Michaels.  I made her a Emergency coffee kit with this picture and a mint tin.  It had Instant coffee, creamer, and sugar in it.

Wow, what a great picture! And I like how it looks with the farbric marker, sort of faded in places... maybe that's just the pic, but I don't think that's all of it. A marker is going to give you an uneven look... which is why I dismissed the idea of using one. But with a vintagey pic like that, it looks GREAT! I too am off to check out clipart.com and clipart sites in general. Now that I'm getting the hang of stencilifying photos maybe I need to try clip art.

Sure!  The thing about this picture is that it was already ready for stencilling, it just needs to be enlarged.  I found the easiest way (with minimal pixilating) is a photocopier.
