I've been a knitter for several years but haven't really ventured too far into the realm of crotcheting...BUT...my friend got me The Happy Hooker for my birthday so what did I do? I took up crotcheting! Here is my first project:

It's the boy beanie pattern minus the strips and plus a cute ribbon. I would like to say that the ribbon is just for show but really it's there to keep the hat secure on my head. The beanie fits perfectly but it isn't quite snug enough so I weaved a ribbon through the edge so I can tighten it.

That is so cute I would so wear it.

There will always be people who say mean words  because you are different, and sometimes their minds cannot be changed. There are many more people who do not judge others based on how they look or where they are from. THOSE are the people whose WORDS truly matter.

I used the "boy beanie" pattern from the Happy Hooker book. I think it's just called "boy beanie," right everyone? It's really easy to follow--trust me, it's my first hat, my first crotchet pattern, and I have very little crotchet experience.  Smiley

I am going to have to get this book!  I have been crocheting for many years and was taught by my mother who was incredible.  And I don't remember any of my first few projects turning out anywhere near this nice.  I have seen several first projects posted from people who learned from this book and they have all been great.  I am going to have to get it myself so I can learn the 'secret'.

Great job, and the ribbon is not only functional, it totally works overall.

I may be just an amateur, but I am a passionate amateur.
