i was using a pattern at first but then like i said, i wanted a ribbing and an ear flap so i changed the pattern quite a bit. i used this for the basic crown: http://www.yarncat.com/MFH-Basic-Crown.html and then i did another row of double crochet then the next rows after that i did ch 2, *back post dc, front post dc, repeat from *, then sl st to top of beginning dc. i did that till desired length. i did another row of dc then another row of sc and i think i used this site for the ear flap: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-pomhat.html then i added the pom poms! i can try putting all of that together in one but then im not sure if i can since the only thing that i did was the ribbing part and the rest are not mine. if you need any help understanding something, i'll be glad to help =)

I agree, this hat is great! Definitely my favorite, over all the other pom hats I've seen! GREAT job!

She ran down the forest slope.
The forest of talking trees,
They used to sing about the birds and the bees.
The bees had declared a war,
The sky wasn't big enough for them all.

Great hat!  I just started to crochet a few months ago, and have only stuck with baby hats so far because they seem easier for some reason.  This is inspiring me to try grown-up hats again  Smiley.

My yarn's pretty chunky, so the hat's bigger than it should be, but that just means it won't give me hat-head!  But I canNOT get the earflaps to look right.  They're too... long and skinny.  I've tried a couple different patterns, but nothing seems to look right.  *sigh*  Any suggestions?

Other than that, the hat is cute!  I made it in this dark heather grey wool/acrylic.  Because of the chunky yarn, the ribbing doesn't show up so much, but I like it anyway!
