for a class i'm taking on 19th century art, i choose to recreate some of the undergarments women wore. being thrifty and oh 'so smart' i decided to reproduce these victorian costumes for a victorian doll.
lacking a real porcelain one, i present you with my value village find, and some of the layers i created.

this is the doll in her drawers (or bloomers) they are closed crotch versions and notice she has on her stocking already. because once you put on that corset, bending is no fun!

close up on the stocking seams:

some of the layers on their own:

on her, from the front and then the back (obviously)

notice the bustle?

this was a really fun project for me. i hope you enjoy!

wow, that's so cute/ cool! personally, i think all dolls should come in elaborate period costumes, lol. really, great job! next time i need instant gratification of the corset- making sort, i'll just make it for a doll!

For my class, we had to make different "era" outfits. I chose the fifties, but the Victorian age got the best grade. Sewing clothes for dolls is a bitch! I hated it! I love your corset though.

thanks for the comments!
ultimately this was a fun, but time consuming project. im not a great seamstress, nor had i ever drafted a pattern (for life size models, never mind doll size ones). im happy with the result though.
vamp raquel: i'd love to see your work!

My teacher kept all the work for "future references." But I'm already planning it's escape, so I'll post when I can!
