hey everyone,
for the past few months i've been working on this huge scrapbook for all my photos from middle and high school. it's really simple, the photos are on jewel and neutral cardstock and matted with patterend collage papers. i'm planning on inserting some various magazine pages and whatnot in between the scrapbook pages.

my issue is that i need to put little headers, captions or even paragraphs about the photos, but i would much rather have them printed than handwrite them.

anyone have suggestions of products to use or an idea of how i can print what i write out and add it to the pages without it looking tacky?

thanks a ton

I downloaded a TON of fonts from www.dafont.com (I now have over 500 fonts) and then used MS Word & Publisher to create a lot of my headers and journaling. I purchased a pack of vellum (25 pages for $10 I think) and printed out my headers on vellum, this way I could even let the headers overlap photos and I didn'thave to worry about yucky white paper in my scrapbook.  If you really want to go for the translucent look, even try printing stuff out on transparencies.

thanks a ton!i love the idea of the vellum paper.

how do you get the fonts to ms word?
i've downloaded a few but they're only going to my temporary internet files folder in zipped files and aren't showing up in ms word.

Unzip the fonts  to your desktop (i have things download straight to my desktop)

I assume you run windows?

After you unzip the fonts, drag the font (not the folders) to your font folder.

You can get to your font folder by clicking on "My Computer" then "C drive" (or whatever drive your HD is), then "Windows" then "Fonts".

After you drag the font over, you'll see a box pop up that says "installing font".

You can then delete the files off your desktop, open Word or whatever you want, and the fonts are there Cheesy

let me know if you need additional help.

Glad it worked! I literally have 500 fonts now all because of that site.  They have amazing free fonts!

You can also have your own handwriting converted into a font for about $7. i like that, becuase then its like a wrote it, but without the pain of writing it myself.

yeah, but that's only good if you have pretty handwriting.  mine is horrible, i have a har enough time making it legible for journaling!

what do you use to attach the vellum paper to the page, without showing adhesive or photo mounts?

i usually use photo mounts (because they are photo safe!) to attach all my photos and cardstock, but they would show up on vellum paper.

That's a tough bit - Scotch makes a vellum tape that I couldn't get to stick to anything but me!  then, I tried clear mounting squares, but you could see them through the vellum.  I finally found something that seems to work pretty well - Scotch brand tape runner.  The one I have is purple, but the refill is a Red cartridge...letme see if I can dig up a URL for you...at first, you can see it through the vellum, but I did pages on New Years Eve with it that you now can't see the adhesive through it hardly.
