I just thought of this... hair dye has treatments in it to make your hair soft again after all the damage it does. You wouldn't want conditioners on wool, because then they might not grip right and they certainly would be unable to felt.

Yeah, we ended up getting Wilton's - the brown with a bit of black gets my color, with a bit of orange gets my sister's.

Can't wait to see the reaction at my daughter's daycare when I come pick her up with a head o' dreads!

Well...I tried a bit of fleece with the hair dye and it did not work at all. I had some henna and it did work if you like a nice carroty orange looking thing. It looks like a tiny orange dread now...but while it was soaking in the henna...it looked like something the cat hacked up. Or worse.

After considering all options, we decided to go with Wilton's. We'll only be doing it on Sunday, though...
