This is my first real crochet project -- I've knitted for a few years, but just picked up crochet a few months ago.  It only took a few days to do the actual crocheting.

I used Bernat Denim Style, which looks nice but is rather stiff.  I figure that the blanket will be used outdoors with a stroller, so it's okay for it to be a little more rugged than a blankie for a crib.  It's for my coworker's baby shower today -- I hope she likes it!

Your colors are so soft. I love it. This really makes a great gift.

That looks very nice.  I'm about to start this for my aunt's new baby.

I liked the colors you used, but I'm going to use Caron Simply Soft instead. Hopefully it's okay for babies - if the yarn label has a pattern for a baby sweater, it must be good enough for a stroller/carseat blanket, right?

I love Caron Simply Soft, I have used it for many projects I've made for my sons and I think it would be perfect for this blanket!

I am using Simply Soft to make this blanket too (that and some older acrylic I am trying to use up).  I think it's coming out pretty well.  You can see a photo of it so far on my blog:
