Ow, and then of course I got inspired by this thread and made some of these pincushions too:

I used a natural linnen and a cotton mix (both vintage).

Very pretty, BeaG!  It's alway impressive to see folks piece the petal parts to achieve alternating fabrics.

I had to look at the picture several times to understand the alternating petal parts! lol.
Great job on all those cushions. And I think "swirly-cordy-ribbony stuff" is a pretty creative name for gimp! lol

I have caught the pincushion bug for sure.  I saw this little bathtub at a rummage sale and had to make one out of it.



And a side view:


It's stuffed with polyfill and the fabric is just hot glued into the bathtub.  Lace is also hot glued on.  It's working fantastically, although I think I've already lost a needle in it.

that's adorable! and I loose needles in my tomato more than my other larger cushions so I think it's fairly normal. lol

Why thank you!  It is my most favorite pincushions.  And I love garage sales.  I've found the best stuff at them.  My mom and I normally go out any weekend that we're both not working.
