Hello everyone,

I'm new to the community and am not very crafty, but want to learn!  I recently purchased some drinking glasses with silver leaf along the rim of the glass.  It seems, however, the silver leaf comes right off with washing, even hand washing.  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to do to seal the silver leaf so that the glasses are safe for washing and drinking.  They are thin and I do not have any equipment to fire them so that the silver leaf sets into the glass.

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

Regards,
James

Personally, I would not drink from those glasses; that silver leaf may be getting in your drink, mouth, body, and may not be safe to ingest.

Metallic edges are usually fired on.  Sounds like they either didn't use a good product, or didn't fire it properly.

Home craft paints (and sealants) are best kept off any surface that comes in contact with food or lips, so I wouldn't add anything to the glasses.
