Hallo!  I haven't made any clothes in a long time, mostly bags and wallets...but in the last few weeks I made a bunch o things, and here's one of them!

I was supposed to make it last month for the designer sewalong, but never got around to it.... Embarrassed

I wanted to make something like this:

but when I tried to make the skirt part it got all messed up and I couldn't get it right...and I'm not much into strappy dresses either, so I was going to change the top anyway.  So the results look nothing like the inpiration! haha!  I made it to wear to my sister-in-law's wedding last weekend.

It's a bubble dress!!

and I looove the sleeves!!

I made the necklace too!  heehee...And I bought the belt from Target cos I thought the dress looked kinda plain all by itself.  What do you think?

and a couple of you wondered how I made the top, so here are the pattern pieces I used!  I "traced" them from an existing dress I bought a couple of months ago, so I didn't do it by taking my measurements or anything...I know, I'm a big cheater Grin

The cap sleeve is elongated about four or five inches than the actual measurement would be, so that it will bunch enough to make it nice and pouffy!  In the "front sleeve" and "back" pattern pieces, the cap sleeve only attaches to the top half of those pieces.  Then I made bias tape from my fabric and sewed it all around the cap sleeve and the bottom parts of the sleeve holes.  Does this make sense?  I'll do a more detailed tutorial soon!

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

THAT IS SO CUTE!!!  I'm sure you got TONS of compliments on it at the wedding!  I really like the fabric--which makes it great for the fall season.  What a great job!

not only do i love the sleeves, you've just given me inspiration for my wedding dress. i have been playing around with similar ideas, but seeing your dress has given me much encouragement. any tips you have are welcome...

your dress is much better than the original; yours looks much more finished and fits better.

is it just coincidence that you match the wall perfectly?  Smiley

That is perfect!

Did you do it all from scratch, or did you use a pattern at all?
