...or as my friend's mother likes to call it, "Merchandise Exchange Days".  I just refer to it as "Trash Pickin' Time!"

Every spring and fall, Norman, OK has their semi-annual "clean-up".  People put out all their big trash (furniture, mattresses, etc), and the sanitation people will pick it up, whatever it is.  People put out all sorts of stuff.  Last year I found a huge stack of manilla envelopes, boxes of vintage fabric and clergy vestments, a folding clothes drying rack, a folding card table, a red vinyl highback chair, some books.... you never know what will be out.  The trucks come around to pick stuff up pretty early Saturday morning.  This goes on all month, so you need a schedule and map to know what neighborhoods are when (http://www.normanok.gov/utilities/sanitation/clean-up.htm).

This is great fun -- I look forward to these months all year!

Oh I am so excited, one year I found a really cool wooden stool I redorated, and cool wooden box (which was filled with a bunch of old 45 records that I made a few bucks on ebay with). I am looking for old wooden window shutters for another project I have in mind. So I am going to be out early looking for stuff!!!
