Yay, it's gorgeous, Grace O!  My hat is coming along slowly.  Alpaca is SO fine- but it's going to feel so nice when it's done.

Thanks Chipp and Radal.  It is so wonderful you are both in progress.  That alpaca will be luxurious.  4 hats at once, Oh Chipp, you are amazing.

WOW!!!  It's beautiful!!!  I just started felting, and am having problems with my gauge,  I keep trying though,  I made a pot holder and I am so disappointed, that thing is the biggest pot holder ever!   Shocked Now I'm trying a bucket bag, I just hope it turns out a bit better. I'm not going to give up, your hat is the bomb!!!  What is the price of it, if I may ask?  Is it alpaca yarn?  Thanks for sharing, made me rethink giving up!!

Hi glassfreak41 - thanks so much for the kind words.

The hats and all the the other items here are needle felted from wool roving/batt or wet felted from wool roving/batt without knitting, crocheting or weaving before hand.  Maybe the felting FAQ https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=68351.0 will help clarify the differnce.

To see how this hat and the ones to follow here in the gallery were made, check out the hat feltalong and I invite you to try one this way with us https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=118185.0

Woozas, graceoblivious.  That....is....so....beautiful....The batting really compliments the hat's lines.  I could see that hat on so many different types of people with different styles---that is one of many reasons why you rock---your arty/crafty ways cross the different style lines.

Now, I gotta get hopping.  Seriously hopping.  Tonight!  I will start for 10 minutes!

I can't wait to see all the hats.  Random:  This board is so inspirational.

Wow Snacker, you have me walking on air.

Am so happy you too are working on a hat.

I too am so looking forward to seeing more hats posted here.  At least two more are coming soon.  Am so excited to see what has developed in other's hands.  After this evening will be off line for a couple of days so hoping to find a bevy of hats upon my return. Smiley

I finally got to finish #1's hat this weekend.  He told me what he wanted and where

but then I did ask if I could add one more thing...

he loves it!!!

added a unicorn to #2's hat but we can't find it anywhere right now to take a pic.  #3 can't decide what to add to her's, but will probably end up being a face like her big brother's Smiley  Will take and post pics when we can

Love how your children love your felting!  What fun and what great things you make because of them looking, asking, wanting and enjoying.  Super hat!

Finally found #2's hat

traced the unicorn off of a shirt that she loves (and would wear everyday if I let her).  Cut it out of some commercial wool felt and then stitched it on.  It does have some dots needle felted on, too.  Someday, when she outgrows the hat, we'll take the unicorn off and  use the hat as a purse.  Two for the price of one Wink

Thanks for all the compliments on the "alien" hat.  #1 really loves it.  He even wears it to bed on cold nights.

ps the batts for these were from Peace Fleece incase you need another place to shop Smiley

LOL batgirl, I picked Grace because I am so clumsy.  But thank you so much for the wondrful compliment.  Makes me feel really good.

Chipper's hats for the numbers are inspiring - and best of all the kids really do love them and want them.  Will be fun to see your nephew's hat.  Glad she pulled you into hat felting.

and last but not least...  Here's #3's hat

the original batt is purple with some random pink-ness.  In the end all #3 wanted was one row of tiny purple rick-rack on it.  I sewed it on with metallic purple thread crossing over the rick-rack so it sparkles just a bit.

As it is snowing here today, the numbers will probably be wearing them out today.  Smiley

Thanks again for all the compliments and encouragement! I can't wait to see more hats!

Well, often not being happy with my work go back and work it some more.  Have redone the needle felted hat - went on to wet felt it over a hatshaper plastic form.  Am much happier with this incarnation plus added a flower made in the flower felt along.

Awww, you all really are too kind.  I am indeed much happier with this incarnation and ready to stop on this one.  It is good.  Somehow it always amazes me when something I make achieves the "wow" factor.  Thanks for the support and confirmation that sometimes revisiting and reworking is a good thing. Hugs all, Grace0
