your tattoos are totally gorgeous, the mrs.

and to the girl with the petit prince tattoo [abandonedcouch, i believe], i'm in love with it. i'm getting my first tattoo in that same shoulder blade area. i've heard that it's fairly painful because it's right on your bones. i'm trying to figure out what exactly i should expect. how bad would you say that hurt?

Oh yay! I absolutely love this posting idea. Well, here goes nothing:

These are my two phoenixes which I had done in 2004. Although there are never two phoenixes alive at one time according to mythology, I got these to symbolize the relationship I have with my long time fiance. I also got them to symbolize my inner strength.

This is my lotus flower that I had done a few months ago. I got this tattoo to symbolize the birth of my daughter, Emma. The color is for her birthstone and the flower itself represents how, when she was born, my life came up out of the mud and blossomed into something beautiful.

All of my tattoos were done by the fabulous artist Jaysin Stallard at Slingin' Ink in Evarts, Kentucky. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

So the magic moment finally came for me, and I went and got my first tattoo!  I'm still kind of adjusting to the reality of it, but I am completely in LOVE with the design and the location.  The design is of a Hamsa, which is kind of a religious/mystic symbol in the Jewish and Islamic religions.  It's supposed to keep away the evil eye, but now the symbol has been used as a symbol of peace in the Middle East (since the hamsa is shared between both religions), as well as a feminist symbol (it's known as the Hand of Miriam or the Hand of Fatima).  Since the tattoo is on the inside of my left bicep, it's invisible with my arm down by my side, so it's a little bit more of a personal space.  Enjoy!

Giselle Papillon, how far north?  What city are you in?  The only shop I'll recommend north of Toronto is Bodyco in Orillia, they are the cleanest shop there is.  You may want to check out www.bmezine.com though, do a search by location and read the experiences that people have sent in, and from there just go to the shops and be nosey, ask if they have an autoclave and if you can see their spore test results, and make sure it's brand new needles they use.  Bodyco breaks their needles after each use in front of the client to prove that they are no longer usable.

I'm a new mom to my beautiful baby girl Rhaevyn, born June 12th, she keeps me super busy.

Wow, mercurial1101, those are some colorful phoenixes! I love them!!

How did you like getting the under bicep tattoo SuzukiBeane33? I have a tattoo in that spot as well (well, one on each). Everyone thinks I'm crazy for it, but I love mine. (o: It's an awesome symbol as well.

Yay for tattoos! I'm getting my sleeve started Friday, WOOHOO!  But for now, here's a few of my pieces.

My pirate skull trapped in a ship's wheel(forgot the term).  meaning: I steer my own course

crappy pic, but a self-designed dogwood flower for my Dad

my ode to TNBC, Zero!!  Also for Cerberus, RIP

snowflake I've drawn since I stopped eating crayons.  meaning: I am unique, and like a snowflake, I am shaped by the things around me

I have 7 others, and my toes done, but no good pics of them.

I've got a question - is the pain of tattooing worse when you're going over an area already tattooed? I just got mine touched up last Thursday, and it hurt WAY more than I remembered it. I thought maybe I was just being a wuss haha, but then someone said that they'd heard it hurt worse going over already tattooed-skin since it's over scar tissue. thanks guys Smiley

That, my friend, is bullshit.  Tattooed skin is *NOT* scar tissue, it is healed skin.  I worked at a shop for 2yrs.  It will tend to be tender for a good 45 days if you tattoo back over the area before that time.  Think about it, doll...you had a few needles going into your skin a few hundred times a minute for a while, and it's an open wound, with colours.  It takes time to heal back. I have 11 tats and my toes done, and touch-ups do suck, but they're a necessary evil Smiley
