as long as we're sharing thoughts on finger/hand tattoos....

it REALLY REALLY REALLY depends on the skill level of the artist you go to. tattooing hands is not like tattooing an arm or back. if you get someone who both knows what they're doing AND uses quality ink, then they will last you a lifetime with only minimal touchups.

my husband's top knuckles are tattooed with gambling symbols (card suits, 7s, dice, etc) and his lower knuckles spell out "hard luck". he's had the upper knuckles for almost ten years and they still look new!

however, he got the lower knuckles done by someone who admittedly didn't know how to tattoo hands (but not all artists will admit to that!) and they looked great at first, but after only a year they were so faded you couldn't read them. so he went to an experienced artist to fix them and they look great again...and have stayed that way.

so seriously, check portfolios, talk to other customers, etc. don't ever take an artists word that they can do something at face value. and don't go to billy joe bob's cut rate tattoo shack either!

i will post a pic of my new tattoo when i get home from work. yay!

i heart myspace!

i sew, make collages, make mix cds, make home improvements, latch hook, make jewelry, paint, and am in school for interior design. i wanna learn how to knit!

Yay! I didn't chicken out yesterday and I got my tattoo! After getting it done and seeing it on my arm, I wonder why on earth I even got scared to begin with-I love it, and it's not even finished. I'll go back and get the rest of it colored eventually...probably in November or something.

I know they look different and everything, but it's hard to take a pic of your arm....I was looking at the screen on the camera in the mirror and trying to hold it still-hee hee...I just couldn't wait for my boyfriend to get home for him to take it. (Also...sorry it's so huge, but when I make it smaller, you get crappy quality)

The left one (the bottom pic) is super bruised though...I've never had a tattoo bruise before. There is also what looks like maybe a blood blister on the top fin? Is that normal? All the ink looks ok, but since I've never had those things happen, I thought I would ask.

I love the WV tattoo!  I was scrolling down the page and was really suprised when I saw it.  As a fellow mountaineer, I have to applaude your chutzpah.

home, on my back.

How cool! I sat here for a couple of seconds before I figured out what state it was. But I'm wondering, what does the plane dropping bombs signify?
