I've only ever cut fabric with a pair of scissors but I keep hearing about and seeing those rotary cutter things.

Are they good? do they make things easier? I thought only quilters used them - do they work for cutting other stuff, that isn't just straight lines. And can you only cut thinnish fabric (like quilting cotton) with them?

I've never used one so it's difficult to know what they're like. Any firsthand input would be great!

do a search for 'rotary cutter' (in the search box above) there's been some discussion about them.  I think they're only for straight lines, but they'll cut anything (including your fingers if you're not careful).
