I have this really pretty fair isled zip cardigan that I found at Fred Meyers on sale a while ago, and I've seen lots of people on here felting sweaters and making bags out of them, but I don't know if it's a good idea to go ahead and felt this one cause of the zipper. Please comment if you have any ideas about hacking it up!

You could felt it and then, since the fibers will be so tight, cut off the zipper and you should have no unraveling. I've been reading up alot about felting lately mainly because I checked out a book at the library on making felted purses and it really intregued me. I have read that if you felt the wool properly, the fibers should be so tight that raw edges will not come undone. You should be able to then cut your pieces as if you were using any other fabric.

I'm in the process of making a blanket from felted sweaters, and once you felt them super good they don't come apart. I've been felting mine with the zipper intact. Smiley
