I've been promising my friend a hat forever but when I saw this pattern I dropped everything and went and bought the yarn..

I used cascade 220 as called for but the same brown wasn't available at my local yarn shop so I went with another... 9475 I think. I like this color better though!

The pattern also called for two rows of purl I knitted it and didn't like it so I backed it up and just did one row of single rib... it still curled up and I had to steam it out in the end but it came out fine.

Ignore the ugly cracked wall in the background and my dorky bangs. Tongue

As you can tell from the pic I started out knitting tightly and loosened WAY up when I got to the waves because my first attempt came out tiny... oh well live and learn! And i made a nice mistake on a wave in front.

and here's a close up of the waves..

Okay so this is my first post with pics (just got a digital camera!) and my first real project with this type of color work (what's it called?)so be nice!

Yes I know I look 15... but I really am 21! boo I hate pictures of me

I really like it!  Nice job, your colorwork looks really even!

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

The hat looks great on you!   And I like your color combo, too.

Mistake?  No... it's an Unexpected Design Element.  I put it there on purpose.  *ahem*

That hat looks great on you!  I'm really not a hat person, but I'm thinking of knitting this one cause it looks really cute Smiley

Can I be your friend?  None of my friends are making me badass hats!  Cheesy  I love the colors/style/all of it!  I need to learn to read a pattern!
