I recently moved to Tokyo Japan (Meguro) ---- are there any folks in/near the area interested in meeting up, maybe once a month to teach, swap and share ideas or go hunting/shopping for crafting supplies?

Reading through the posts I really want to check out Nishi Nippor!  My friends in Japan are not really into crafting, so I'd love to go with someone who would enjoy it as much as I.

I am also looking for a sewing machine, since shipping my Necchi from the US costs so much!  I just need something really basic.  If you have any ideas of good shops please let me know. I've tried the recycle shops but have not had any luck.

Hey there! I work in Meguro, so I am down there ALL the time.  I would love to meet up and do some crafting.  I don't really have any other crafting friends, but I do know of a few knitting groups (I'm mostly into knitting, but started sewing again).  Nippori is my crafting mecca.  I try to get down there once every month or two.

When I first got here, I went to a local sewing machine shop.  You can get a basic machine for cheap, but they machines aren't very durable.  In fact, the sales lady told me they are for "mothers of kindergardeners".  However, they would work if you need something basic.  Thrift stores like Hard Off have used machines for cheap.  But if you want a new one, expect to pay at least 10,000 yen for a basic one.

Hi! I live and work in Kiba. I'd love to meet some new people, I just moved here in February. I also just started sewing, so I haven't checked out Nippori but I'm going this weekend.

Wow I just moved here in May and I mostly just sew.  But I would love to do something like what was suggested.
