i'm just starting my first year at SU. i'd love to know any local craft places that i could check out, mainly for knitting as i don't have my sewing machine at present. actually, i'd just like to know about anything cool in the area (rather than just the same stuff they tell us about).

hi - haven't been on craftster in a while, so i just saw your post. I own a vintage clothing and records store in syracuse, and we have Radical Craft Night here every Thursday from 7 til 9.  It's free, you can bring a snack to share if you feel like it.  It's just a bring-your-own-project thing, nothing structured.  We have a lot of fun, get a lot of different people, plus lots of strange regulars. Please join us!

Details and directions are on our site http://www.highlyatomic.com

Just wonderin' if this is more of a collage crowd or can an old lady who knits and crafts join in... ok I'm not that old... 42ish. Would I be like an old wet sock in on the bathroom floor in the middle of the night? I'm strange so that might be a plus  Tongue

oh - sorry - just saw your post.

let's see ... there is a lovely age range ... we've had people from 16 to 50, with the most common denominator being that we're all freaks.  i'm 42 but tend to be childish, not child-like - there IS a difference!  We've had lots of knitters, but also our share of ... well, Mac making fake fur costumes for his zombie movies, L. making scary dolls, and last week Ed worked on a black net for go-go dancers to dance behind at his monthly dance party.  and then there was the night we had vodka and pomegranate juice ...

hope that helps.  just show up once and see! we get new folks all the time.

Sounds like a wild and crafty night. Just the thing I might need! I've got a few more crazy weeks ahead of me, but I'm hoping that by the time Halloween is over I'll be able to stop by. NO... scratch that... by the time Halloween is over... I'll need to stop by Smiley

Thansk for the PM and I can't wait for things to slow down around here.

I just moved to Syracuse in August and will be here for three years. I'm a knitter and a stamper and was just checking in to see who's up here!
I haven't been able to find a knitting group yet!
