Hello all,

My Partner and I will be vacationing mid Cape in a town called mashpee from 9/23-9/30. We are planning on day trips to Provincetown, Boston and Salem.

I'm looking for info on must see places, odd places, thrift stores, flea markets, funky stores and restaurants etc. in those areas or surrounding areas.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i don't know if it's your cup of tea but there is a tea place i've been dying to go to in mashpee commons. mashpee commons is a big sort of upscale outdoor mall place. it's fun to walk around if you stay around mashpee for a day.

have fun!

We were just down there - definitely plan a day to just walk along the National Seashore (we started at Marconi Beach).

You'll love P-town but I didn't notice any craftshops, yarn shops, flea markets or thrift shops on that end of the Cape - doesn't mean I didn't overlook it.

OOOh, also, if you like fried seafood (traditional NE clamshack type stuff, lobsta, steamas, fried clams, etc) you HAVE to go to Arnold's Lobster and Clam Bar (rt 6, Eastham).  Steamas, fried clams, onion rings and wine - I didn't ever want to leave.  Too, in P-town there was a retro restaurant called the Lobster Pot - ask the hosts (-esses) what they would recommend.  I had the blackened Tuna Surimi and it was oh so good.

Boston and Salem will be quite a drive from where you are (heavy traffic to boot).  You might want to just kick back and enjoy the Cape with the few days that you have.

There is a flea market in Welfleet during the summer.  Perhaps it will still be open when you come?

I did visit a knitting store in Dennis that was nice, http://www.ladybugknitting.com/

Thanks for all the help, we will definitely check out the places suggested. I checked and the wellfleet fleamarket runs till fall. I know that there was an indoor flea market in hyannis years ago when I visited, any one know if it still exists?

Yes, I walked by the Hyannis market when I was there in June.
