rawr. hey guys,

recently i was stenciling a shirt for a swap partner and i have a bad habit of doing everything in my room. so as i was putting on the red fabric paint, my arm hit the fabric paint bottle, it fell, and now i have a red splotch of red paint on my beige carpet.  Sad

and last night i was decorating a card for another swap partner with caligraphy ink and somehow my sister walked pass, knocked the bottle over and i have a line of black ink on my beige carpet too!

i got some of the red paint and black ink off by scrubbing with water but anyone know any good stain remover products for carpets?! my parents are having a house warming party soon (we just moved in) and they dotn know about this yet!!! ahhh Sad

sometimes it sucks being crafty   -_-;;;

vanish oxy-action might work, if you can get that where you are.

hairspray works good to get ink out.  As for paint... what type of paint is it? They have special paint removers "kiss off" at art craft supply stores. Try brush cleaner... but make sure to water it down so it doesn't bleach your carpet.

Also, don't scrub. I know it sounds stupid (because i still scrub... im inpatient!)  But it only spreads the stain. Blot the stain.  It takes longer, but this way it won't spread or go deeper into the carpet, or ruin the carpet. Also, try a rug shampoo.

I am the biggest klutz there is.  I have spilled everything and anything on carpeting.... lipstick, paint, rubber cement, charcoal dust, pastels, gesso, glue, plaster.... you name it, i've done it!

RED PAINT is probably going to be REALLY hard to get out because red dye is really hard to get out!!! (Sorry to say this!!!!). Also, be careful, some carpet cleaners tend to leave spots....

if you do a search on google for carpet stains... there are some more options... but whatever you do, test it first.... good luck!!!

might try old fashioned dish soap - it's gotten me out of a slew of episodes involving paint/ink/etc.

my new apartment has brown shag, which is hideous, but not without its benefits, especially regarding crafting.

i care about you a homemade oven mitt's worth.

I used a Oxy Clean and then a Hoover steam cleaner with some carpet cleaner, and managed to lighten an ink stain to the point of *almost* non-noticeable; of course every time I looked at the carpet I saw it, but hey... stuff happens Smiley

Of course my father is anal retentive about the carpet (scary...) and when I told him I spilled something, he decided to try bleach... of course he doesn't do laundry that often and ued a mixture of half bleach half water and was surprised when the beige carpet turned bright yellow.  Needless to say, we now have an area rug in the dining room, I have promised not to craft on the dining room table, and Dad has been forbidden to even look at bleach again. For whatever reason, I have forest green carpet in my BATHROOM. I was dying my hair and my hand slipped and I got a big splotch of red dye on my carpet.

...I covered it with a rug. Cheesy
