Well, I'm a complete novice at knitting...I've only ever made garter-stitched scarves.  But I just picked up a copy of Happy Hooker and I learned to crochet a bit, and it got me all interested again in knitting too!

I had a crazy dream about beautiful puffy knitted necklaces, so I looked online and found the dummies guide to knitting cables and I thought I'd give it a try.

This is my first time knitting cables, so please be kind!  The cables on the right side are all wonky cos I was still getting used to making them and trying to figure out how to increase them at the same time.

I stuffed it with poly-fill (for pillows).

I LOVE IT!!  I still haven't finished it, I need to add a hook or whatever to fasten it in the back.

I can tell you, Fall is composed of

1 part dead fish smell
1 part wet leaves
1 part arctic chilled air (not winter chilled variety)
2 parts crunchy walking
a pinch very cold rain
some apples you picked yourself
a few very still moments
a good deal of inner reflection

That is indeed a woderful, crazy dream!  Looks great for a 'novice'!  Ha...looks like you've been doing it for a while!

And, you can always slip it up on your head for a headband!   Grin

Keep it up,
RM

That's so rad... I love it!

Did you knit it on DPNs to make it puffy or did you seam it up after?

That's fantastic!!!! did you just make a long lemon shape of cabled knit and sew it into a funnel then tie at the back or is it more complex?Huh?

thanks!!!!

conkers, I just knitted it all flat, so the shape kinda looked like a really long lemon I guess, sewed the side seams in the middle first (where the biggest cables are), stuffed it, then sewed the rest of the seams up.  It looks like a banana when it's not tied up in the back.

speaking of banana, I plonked it up on my head to see what it would look like as a headband, and it was hilarious!  Literally like shticking a banana on my head.

la_chrystelle, I'd love to see your necklace.  Sounds interesting!
