I picked up two canvas money bags at a garage sale for 50 cents each.

And with some lace here and sequins there I made this purse:

I used black lace around "The Royal Bank of Canada" and attached it with fabric glue (very messy) then I sewed on a bow at the top of the square and blakc sequins all over the back. The handles are made with some black T-shirt scraps that I braided together.

I'm proud of it because it's the first purse I've ever made and one of very few craft projects I've ever finished.  Grin

he he thanks!

but i don't know where the heck i'd find a money bag like this.

Our garage sales are way better than our thrift stores here, but they are also more of a hit and miss type thing. However, as with all other things, it would appear that ebay has a ton of money bags up for sale for cheap, too. I am tempted to buy a lot of them off good ol' ebay because I have some other ideas for decorating them. And I think it's cool to say that your purse is a bank... ha ha.  Cheesy

I love it! How much fun would it be to walk into the bank! Cheesy I never find great things like that at garage sales Sad I'm thinking I could make a stencil though.....hmmmm. Thanx for sharing.  8)d

Thanks for the comments!  Grin

I must say I am in love with it and I loved making it because of the minimal amount of sewing - I mean sequins are so easy Tongue

And I never thought of taking it into a bank even... ha ha.... so ditzy. but that just adds to it.

You all rock my world.

that is very cute! I use one at work I wonder if they would mind if I stole it and altered it a bit! Great job and cool first purse!

I am tempted to alter one that says "Do not alter. Please return to Kansas City Bank," but I'm WAY too cheap to buy it and pay for shipping.  Cheesy
