Thanks for the tip.  I will hopefully get around to learning it this christmas - I should maybe make it a new years resolution for myself!

I'm glad to hear people are still having fun at the craft group!

Some crafting materials are quite cheap over here by the way, like material!  I am loving all the choice and the prices Cheesy  though wool is quite a bit more expensive than back home, so I've not had much of chance to crochet and knit here unfortunately.

Hi folks.  I'm a north-easter too, but currently in exile in Oxfordshire.  Have you tried the craft shop in Letham near Forfar?  Its a bit of a jaunt out into the countryside for me, but definately worth it.  You have to be prepared to go for a rummage as it is absolutely crammed with everything, and it has a wee tea room.  What more could you want on a winter weekend?

I have heard mythic tales of the wondrous Letham Craft Shop.  Cheesy

I've also been told it's too exciting for me to visit by myself because I'd go mad from all the choice.

I really really NEED to go.

The Di Gilpin knitting shop in St Andrews is fantastic. I need to back there, and actually manage to buy something this time.

Believe it or not I was in Letham one day (passing through for work) and I couldn't find the shop! Yet the village is tiny! How dim am I?

It was Letham, Angus and not Letham, Fife that you were in?  There is a garden centre, the legendary craft shop and not much else in the village.  I have to go with my mum so that we can talk each other out of buying some really frivolous things.

Another Scot, I live in Aviemore and it is too damned cold tonight to crochet!  (Waiting for the man to come fix my heating!)

Hey, old thread, but I shall step forward. I'm from Glasgow, and with regards to getting craft supplies, I don't have too much trouble. The only thing I find difficult to source is soap making supplies. This may be cos I'm just new to the craft, but I've had to get a lot of stuff from the net. Any soapers in Scotland want to share their secrets?

I'm originally from Galloway (South West Scotland) but now I live in Glasgow.

Clear hearts: I've seen soap making kits in John Lewis' haberdashery department with all the crafty kits for kids.

Does anyone know where I can get magnets for making fridge magnets, etc, with?
