I have a friend who is as obsessed with his flashlights and flashlight forum (yes, they exist) as I am with Craftster. I want to make him a present that will knock his LED out - I'd love to get some ideas from you guys!  Kiss

Okay, this may be totally lame, but the first thing that came to mind was making covers for his flashlights....like... so he can project different shapes onto the wall.

Perhaps a hip-holster for his flashlights, or perhaps a way to strap his flashlight to his leg, like a secret agent?

A flashlight themed stenciled t-shirt?

I thought my dad was crazy.  He collects headlamps.  Not even antique ones, just any new ones he finds at sporting good stores and such.

Anyhow.  You could make a belt holster for some of his favorites - take a regular woven belt from the army surplus store and make hanging bags for it?  Embroider it with his name or a cool phrase.  Or take a relatively plain dollar store type one and add bits and widgets onto it (glue baked pieces of poly clay on?) to make it a personal light saber.  Order him a whole slew of different colored LEDs and make some of those "Throwies" that are so popular over at Instructables.  Collage over a box with flashlight imagery (Do a google search for antique flashlight and print out some of the pictures) for him to keep a special light in his car/underhis bed/etc.

Print up a copy of this Hand Shadows book ( http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/12962 ) and bind it really neat?  You could even go and give all of the animals goofy faces or something.  I also like the above idea of taking some pieces of plastic or glass and painting them to project different shapes on the wall.  Make him his own bat-signal.

Can't think of anything else right now.  What a cool hobby for a friend to have.  I'm not that interesting.  *grin*

Maybe you could take a pic like this,,,from the flashlight museum and print it out so you can make a T shirt with it...  I have seen the stuff in the Office depot that you can use to do it yourself at home....It is specail paper that you put in your printer and it becomes an iron-on for you...always wanted to try it....

You don't have to get it right the first time, just the last time.

Oh my gosh you guys, I'm so happy - these are great ideas! I knew my fellow craftsters would come through!

I'm going to make the t-shirt and covers and...I'm all hopped-up and horny for flashlight crafts now! What floors me is that I didn't think of the shadow puppet idea myself...

bubbledragon, your dad is not alone. My friend spends so much time and money on his - but I can't judge, I'm just as bad with my crafts. And hey, flashlights are usefull and sometimes well designed objects! (Look at me, all enabling him Tongue)

Thanks all!
