The new tulips are irridescent (Change colors depending on the angle you view it) and waterproof, so they can be used as either Votives or Vases. They look pretty cool.

Making a lamp out of them, I would like them a little bit wider, so that assembly will be easier, and so that people can change the light bulbs in them. My big concern about making lamps out of them is the wattage of the bulb and possibly melting the lamp even more.

Maybe after Pinky's show, that can be something to play around with.

Depending on they type of beads you use, the fumes aren't that bad.  I just would melt mine when the kiddos go to bed, and put the fan on and it was gone in the morning.  My youngest is 11 months (so he was 7 or so this summer when I did most of my melting) and I didn't worry about it much.  Have fun!

I just use plain old pony beads the multi facet beads (they're round with many sides).

NOTE: I am re-posting this disclaimer at the top of this thread, but I DO NOT recommend anyone melting with the plastic lids like I did... I have done it twice, and both times have gotten a headache and felt dizzy.  I don't think it was a coincidence, I believe it was the fumes.  DON'T try that one at home, please.  Smiley

Eek! Shocked I definately recommend no-one uses random plastic to melt as the fumes of some can be toxic, if not fatal... Or can set on fire if heated.  Not trying to scare anyone or anything but be careful with what plastics you use, as there is really no way to predict how they act until you've used it, and by then it might be too late!
Whew.  Rant over lol.
I love everything posted however and there is obviously no issues with the pony beads used.  Hehe if only it wasn't sunday today there'd be some shops open to buy some beads!

I found kids necklaces that were strands of mardi gras beads & big gold and reddish colored hearts around Valentine's Day.  So... I threw 'em in there!  hehehe.
