I'm a student at Simmons in the GSLIS program (in Boston).  While I was dragging myself to class last night I saw someone with a Magpie shirt on... and it made me think.  There must be more craftster-types at Simmons.   I know there's a pretty active Stitch & Bitch, but I don't knit!

I'd love to start a little group even if it's just to complain about how work gets in the way of crafting.

Anyone else interested?

URI is cheaper, but Simmons has a wider variety of classes to take and more degree options...I got my MLIS at URI, but I worked at Brown, and most of my coworkers in library school went to Simmons...there were quite a few knitters/crafty folks in my program, though...maybe you could post a sign in the deparment or something to see if anyone wanted to meet up to craft...

Simmons *looks* like they have a wide range of classes, but when I was there, there were a few classes I wanted to take that were listed in the general catalog but were never offered. I don't feel like it was a particularly great school, but I've heard people say the same thing about other schools. Maybe this is something that our profession needs to work on  Undecided  Either way, Simmons is super-expensive and given the choice again I'd probably go somewhere cheaper even if it meant moving out of Boston.

I didn't realize there was an SnB at Simmons - wish I had learned to knit way back then!
