I have made candles for friends and family for a few years, and I've had a lot of success with it!  Once you are set up with the basic supplies you really don't need to spend a lot, and you can customize based on the recipient's decor, scent preferences, the holiday, etc.

Although it helps that I have mostly female relatives..  Smiley

I think someone made one of those and posted it here on craftster, put record into the craftster browser, and look through those.

i have a few ideas:
-get a mug,put packs of hot cocoa, marshmellows and chocolate cover the spoons, wrap them with those tiny bags with those ties, i think they sell them at ac moores
-shoelace flowers https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=12532.0
- buy a wooden frame and design it, and put a picture in.
- a really good family gift could be a family portrait, or a calender, with their pictures in it. last year my sisters gave out sweaters personalized with our names, and it was a group gift, it was awesome.

hoped it help.

First- I love the Cake in a Mug idea! I will definately be doing that.
Seventeen had gift Ideas in their magazine this month and some are pretty nifty so I'll post some.

Heavenly hot cocoa- mix 1 8oz can of hershey's cocoa, 1/4 cup of sugar 2 tsp of cinnamon (op.) and 1 tsp of allspice(op.) Put ingredients in mason jar and attach marshmellows. Make tag with instructions that say "Heat 1/2 milk in a saucepan on low for about 5 minutes. Whish in 2 tbsp of cocoa mix. Serve and Get cozy.

Ooey Gooey S'mores- Make a smore like you usually would then put it in a tiny gift bag. Attach these instructions: Bake S'more on cookie sheet at 350F for 3 to 5 minutes. Eat!"

There are some great ideas here!  Unfortunatly, I also don't have sufficient funds, and (even worse) I don't have sufficient amounts of time!  I've resorted to crocheting in trig...anyways, I'm stuck on a few people I need to give presents.
I'm stumped with my older brother (27) who is really into cars and electronic stuff like that...he also lives across the nation, so it has to be ship-able.  I was thinking about doing some type of collage, but I also want the gift to be useful...not just cool looking...any ideas?
Also, I have two friends who are super obsessed with lord of the rings (as am I) and I know I want it to be part of their gifts, but I can't figure out a way to be original with it.  I'm sure you guys have incredible ideas, so please share!

I'm trying to do the LotR thing for my sis for Chrissy too.

What I'm doing is creating sketches of her fave characters(she likes the more obscure ones that are hard to get stuff of), then scanning them into my computer, resizing, changing the colour etc, printing them out and then using them for different things.

I've currently thought of turning them into bookmarks with colour phtocopied versions of her movie tickets on the back, using them to decorate notebooks and making a set of notecards. I'm sure you could do the same thing with pictures from the movie.

Another idea, cheap gold ring, chain, and you could all be ring bearers!

Well those are my ideas, off to finish them now, the sketch of Eomer is hard! Do you know how hard it is to find a pic of him where he isn't making a stupid face!

I have decided that the hokey pokey is what it's all about.
